Forty Spotted Pardalote Pardalotus quadragintus

The Forty-spotted Pardalote has a restricted distribution and is endemic only to Tasmania. One of the strongholds is on Bruny Island. Especially the team at Inala lead by Dr Tonia Cochran has done a lot to protect this endangered species. In 2014 a number of special bird hides have been built at Inala and especially the “Forty Spotted Pardalote Tower” as I call the viewing platform allows one to observe the behaviour of these little critters on eye-to-eye level. We have spent very enjoyable holidays at Inala over Christmas 2014 and the photos of the Pardalotes published here are from that time.
