Blue-face Parrot Finch Erythrura trichroa

The Blue-faced Parrot-Finches are occurring in high altitude, coastal North Queensland. We have seen the bird at Mt. Lewis. They are restricted to a rather limited area and can be difficult to locate sometimes. Over Easter 2015 we were lucky to find them at better weather then I had seen and photographed them before. This bird is a little bigger than 10 cm in length and beautifully colored with a bright green body and intensive blue facial mask and has a red rump. They feed on grass seeds along the edges of the rain forest. When we were at Mt. Lewis, we have not seen them in great numbers, only 3-6 birds at one time.
